Where to apply for a Schengen visa in India
From India, almost every Schengen country takes applications through VFS Global, which runs visa centres in a dozen cities. The two exceptions are Spain (BLS International) and Greece (GVCW). You apply for your main destination — the country where you'll spend the most nights — at that country's centre, then attend in person for biometrics.

Book / official siteGood to know for Indian applicants
- Biometrics (fingerprints + photo) must be given in person and stay valid for about 5 years — within that window repeat applicants can often skip re-enrolment.
- Appointments in Delhi and Mumbai often book out 2–3 months ahead in peak season — Hyderabad, Pune and Ahmedabad frequently have earlier slots.
- In January 2026 VFS consolidated ~18 Schengen countries into one New Delhi centre at 27 K.G. Marg — older Delhi addresses are outdated.
The visa fee
The Schengen visa fee is €90 per adult, €45 for children 6–11 and free under 6 — the same for every destination, paid locally in INR. Each centre adds its own service fee on top.
Verified against official operator and embassy sources in 2026. Operators, centre locations and hours change — always confirm and book through the official appointment site before you travel to it.

Where-to-apply FAQs
Can I apply for any Schengen country at any centre in India?
No. You must apply for your main destination — the country where you'll spend the most nights (or your country of first entry if nights are equal) — at that country's designated centre. Applying at the wrong operator gets the file returned as inadmissible.
How much is the Schengen visa fee in 2026?
€90 per adult, €45 for children aged 6–11, and free for children under 6 — identical for every Schengen country, paid locally in INR. The application centre also charges its own service fee.
Do I book with the centre or the embassy?
For outsourced operators (VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS and similar) you book online through the operator's official portal. Where a country takes files directly, you deal with its embassy or consulate.
